Takeya Mizugaki (13-5-2) and Reuben Duran (7-2-1) were next up on the UFC on Versus 3 fight card. Duran came into this bantamweight bout as a last minute replacement for Francisco Rivera who was forced to withdraw due to injury.
Duran had nothing to lose in this fight, his UFC debut, while Mizugaki, with a 2-3 record in the WEC would be a candidate for release from the UFC if he fell to 2-4, even though his three losses came at the hands of name fighters, Urijah Faber, Scott Jorgensen, and Miguel Torres.
In the end Mizugaki was able to walk away with the split decision in this fight, (30-27, 27-30, 29-28).
With his performance, Duran may have earned a chance to stick with the UFC.
